Flowers for Peace: Mailart call from Basel, Switzerland
Galerie Eulenspiegel is set to celebrate
its 25th anniversary in Basel
with a mail art exhibition
Invitation to artists
This is an invitation to submit works on the topic of “Flowers for peace”.
An exhibition will be held in Galerie Eulenspiegel, Basel, Switzerland, from 7-21 November 2026.
An exhibition will also be held in Paradiesli in Sigriswil, Switzerland, from 1 March - 19 April 2027.
Mail art (or postal art) is an avant-garde practice consisting of sending letters, postcards, envelopes or similar extra-artistic elements, which are elevated to the status of a work of art by the artistic intention of the author and/or by deliberate manipulation, and are delivered by post to one or more recipient(s). The artistic transformation is carried out by writing or painting on such materials, or by graphically decorating them, and the like – in any case, by designing special versions of postcards and letters which are then posted, with a resultant interaction with the recipient.
Mail art represents an opportunity for individuals to create non-commercial art that moves outside of established channels of mediation and marketing.
This is an open call for mail art under the theme of “Flowers for peace”.
It is open to everyone worldwide.
Participation is free of charge and all artistic, pictorial and graphic techniques, in paper, wood, stone and plastic, both analogue and digital, are permitted.
Each work has to be sent individually by post.
Postcards measuring 148 x 105 mm will be preferred.
The works will not be returned.
Please indicate the following on each piece of art:
Artist’s name or signature
Date
Address, P.O. box, city, country
E-mail
Galerie Eulenspiegel will publish every work (with the artist’s name) on its homepage www.galerieeulenspiegel.ch, under the header MailArt.
Send your works to:

Collaged X-ray film arrives from Susan Gold / Smith, Canada
Thank you Susan.
How nice the fine golden leaf you collaged in the very centre is.
It took the sending five full months to arrive here.
Is Canada so far away from Turkey?
What do the words on the spine-like part mean?
This piece is a mystery.
